Yonkers officials said Luis Gabriel Ramos, of Yonkers, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 3 in Salome, Arizona for the stabbing murder which took place sometime between Friday, Oct. 29, and when the two were found on Monday, Nov. 1.

The two women have been identified as Isabella Triano, 70, and her 38-year-old daughter, Trisha Miller.

The women were found in their Shipman Avenue after a friend asked for a welfare check when she had not heard from one of them for several days.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Yonkers Police Commissioner John Mueller praised the detective work and the help of the FBI and the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.

He added that detectives believe Ramos fled by vehicle and may have been planning to head to Mexico when he captured less than 150 miles from the border.

Mueller said that Ramos knew the women, but was not sure of the relationship. He also added that the department is working on extraditing Ramos back to New York.

The Commissioner also said Ramos was arrested in the Wappingers Falls area for alleged arson about a week ago and released without bail.

Ramos faces two felony charges of second-degree murder, Mueller said.
